Plainfield Invitational Concert Band Festival

The Plainfield Central High School Bands and the PCHS Band Boosters are excited to host the Plainfield Invitational Concert Band Festival (PICBF) on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st, 2025!

PICBF is a non-competitive festival where the focus is on growth rather than competition and ranking. Every ensemble will receive recorded commentary from a panel of three evaluators (via CompetitionSuite) and a clinic with one of those three evaluators as well as a comment-free recording of their performance.
While we know you’ll want to bring many of your own percussion accessories to compliment your performance selections, PICBF provides a full complement of percussion equipment that you may use for the festival to minimize what needs to be packed and transported. Please plan to bring your own implements to play all percussion instruments, but we’ll have some equipment there for backup “just in case”.

As confirmation of your participation, you will receive an invoice at the provided email address to process payment with your school’s business office. Please do not send payment until you receive an invoice. Invoices will be sent in (approximately) December for the festival in March.

New in 2025, we are piloting our first jazz band festival running simultaneously with our concert band festival. This is an outstanding opportunity for directors to bring a jazz group in a low-stress environment that is the same format that we offer for our concert band festival. Plenty of time will be given between concert and jazz bands for students to rest up (morning concert band, afternoon jazz band, for example). We hope you’ll take this opportunity to bring your students for a great jazz festival experience with a growth and encouragement mindset!

Director Information

This could be potential scheduling conflicts that day to help with your schedule.
This will impact whether your ensemble is scheduled around the featured ensemble performance time.
It will be open from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturday only.
Please note that beginning in 2025, all bands will be asked to serve as an audience for a minimum of two other bands (not including the college band). Having our students watch other bands perform is an important educational component of our festival, and everyone feels better performing for an audience than an empty auditorium. When submitting the Program Information Form in February, you will be asked to select two bands that your students will watch.
