Jazz

Thank you for your interest in joining the Plainfield Central High School Jazz Ensemble! Read below to find out more information about this awesome organization and click the button above to register for Jazz Ensemble!

Joining the Jazz Ensemble is a fantastic way to improve your musical skills in improvisation, rhythm, and ensemble playing while diving into the unique styles of jazz, swing, blues, funk, bossa, samba, and more. All Jazz Band rehearsals will take place in the band room (E125) on Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 2:30pm-4:00pm. In addition to the Jazz Ensemble, participants may also choose to be in a Jazz Combo that meets after school on Fridays from 2:30-3:30pm.

Part placement for Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo placement is based off of the initial audition for Jazz Ensemble. Click the Google Drive link below to access the Audition Material for each instrument. All Audition submissions should be emailed to rkazda@psd202.org. The deadline to register for Jazz Ensemble and submit your video audition is Friday October 24th at 11:59pm.

Jazz Ensemble is available to all band students currently enrolled in Concert Band, Symphonic Band, or Wind Ensemble at Plainfield Central High School. Individuals who are involved in Jazz Ensemble primarily will play traditional jazz instruments such as trumpet, trombone, saxophone, drums, guitar, piano, and bass, but we also accept non-traditional jazz instruments as well such as flutes, clarinets, and french horns, etc. It is also available to non-band students that want to join the ensemble on a non-traditional band instrument that is traditionally played in a jazz ensemble, such as guitar, bass, or piano.

A link to the full Jazz Ensemble schedule is below. The first rehearsal of the season is Monday November 10th. If you have any questions about the PCHS Jazz Ensemble, please contact Mr. Kazda (rkazda@psd202.org).
