The Wind Ensemble is the top-performing group of the high school bands. Students enter the group through an audition every spring. The Wind Ensemble performs music in a variety of styles including orchestral transcriptions/arrangements, marches, masterworks, and contemporary band literature. Performance is the focal point of the class. Students are evaluated by their in-class and out-of-class preparation. During August, September, and October, class content requires participation in marching band, both parade and field. After marching season, students will concentrate on concert preparation. Students enrolled are required to attend out-of-school functions, such as concerts, parades, field trips, and extra rehearsals/sectionals as part of their grade in the course.
The PCHS Wind Ensemble has a long history of success on both the state and national level.
